About Alexander

I'm a firm believer of the 15-minute city concept

One of my personal core values is to make the world a better place for the next generation.  To accomplish this, I build housing in walkable, urban neighborhoods, where most daily activities can be accomplished within a 15-minute walk or bike ride from home. A built environment that encourages more social interaction and walkability at the street level is better for people and the planet.

Cities need to be accessible for all

Prosperous cities are ones that make it easier for people to share resources and knowledge. If you can't afford to live near places with abundant opportunities, it's harder to get ahead in life. Building sustainable cities isn't enough. You also need to build housing that is more affordable to people of all income levels. I purposely build projects that are naturally affordable to middle income people without receiving any government subsidies.

My background and community involvement

I'm proud of my bicultural background from Mexico and Puerto Rico and being one of the few, minority real estate developers in the US.

I currently serve as the co-chair of the Housing Product Council and member of the Small Scale Development Council for the Urban Land Institute. I'm also very connected to the University of San Diego as an adjunct professor in the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) Program, member of the Real Estate Committee at the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate, and host of BMC Talks, a monthly podcast where I interview the top minds in business and real estate that are shaping our built environment.

I earned my MBA from the University of San Diego and bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Southern California. I currently live in San Diego with my wife and three children.
